Autism in Females Increases Risk for PTSD: New Study

People with Autism Spectrum Disorder, particularly females, were found to be at higher risks for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder than their non ASD cohort, according to one study.

The study, published in Sage Journals in 2020, found a 32% occurence for PTSD in females with ASD after experiencing life-altering events compared to non-ASD individuals, which only showed up in 4% of individuals.

The authors also found that 60% of individuals, particularly females, with ASD said social events were the most traumatizing, compared to only 20% for non-ASD participants.
